Fight Club is an awesome movie. Nine Inch Nails are an awesome band. Put them together and what do you get? Well, hopefully an awesome TV miniseries.

Ok, to be honest it’s not a literal combination of the two (don’t expect Trent Rezor to be running around shirtless with Brad Pitt, beating up wayward band groupies and dropping  malevolent one-liners like, “We are all part of the same compost heap’’). No. Rather, it’s been confirmed that Fight Club writer Jim Uhls will write a HBO/BBC sci-fi miniseries based on Reznor’s 2007 concept album, Year Zero.

Forget your daggy Dr Whos and trekkies type storylines too. If the miniseries stays true to the themes of the album, then expect a plot riddled with dystopian visions of the future and scathing criticism of the Bush-era American government.

And television is not the only thing Mr. Reznor has been laying claim to lately. As well as planning this miniseries, he also recently nabbed an Academy Award alongside Atticus Ross for his work on the The Social Network soundtrack.

While the Year Zero miniseries could be a little while off yet, cast your eyes to this Nine Inch Nails classic in the meantime.
