Keeps those ears to the ground and your eyes peeled! There’s rumours going around of a new music festival with a killer line-up headed Australia’s way in November!
Leaks and speculation suggest that the people behind the Soundwave and Soundwave Revolution festivals are about to announce a new alternative music festival named Harvest.
Differing from the metal/emo/punk stylings of the Soundwave festivals, Havest will apparently boast a mighty impressive lineup consisting of The Flaming Lips, The National, Mogwai, Janelle Monae, Portishead and Bright Eyes amongst others and cater for between 15,000 - 20,000.
Fuelling the rumour mill is a “music industry professional sick of reading incorrect, misleading information regarding tours and festivals’’ named Miss Info, who tweeted the following:
“Soundwave promoter is diverting his attention from punk/bogan/emo/rock world doing a more indie styled event called ‘Harvest’ which I believe will deffo feature PORTISHEAD & BRIGHT EYES & THE NATIONAL.
Pretty sure this will be East Coast only but WA can expect sideshows from some or all these bands in mid-November.’’
And a little later… “Acts now looking likely for Harvest include The Flaming Lips, The National, Aphex Twin, Mogwai and Janelle Monae - that’s on top of Portishead and Bright Eyes who are already confirmed”.
Miss Info would appear to know her stuff too, having correctly tipped that Pulp, Modest Mouse, James Blake and Foster the People would be on the lineup for Perth’s On The Bright Side festival via her Twitter.
Additionally, several university websites appear to have shed more light on the details of the festival via this ad for artistic proposals:
“Harvest is a one day outdoor music and arts festival taking place this November in Melbourne (12 Nov), Sydney (13 Nov) and Brisbane (19 Nov).
Catering for a discerning music and cross-arts audience, festival goers will come to Harvest for the world-class line-up and return for the extraordinary overall experience.
Thrilling and magical, Harvest is a banquet for the senses: exhilarating music, stunning location, beautiful art installations, playful and subversive performance, quality food and markets, and a strong ecological and social consciousness.
Created by the team behind Soundwave and Soundwave Revolution, Harvest will be a 15,000-20,000 capacity event with a top international music bill.’
Harvest festival dates:
Melbourne – 12th November
Sydney – 13th November
Brisbane – 19th November
There’s been no official word from promoters yet.
Fingers crossed this isn’t bullshit.
