It’s no secret that I absolutely love Radiohead (this blog is of course named after one of their songs).

I have all of their albums, a couple of their t-shirts and a poster of the Ok Computer artwork adorning my bedroom wall. Therefore, whenever they announce new material, I’m always all ears.

Below is a video of Radiohead performing a new song titled “Staircase’’. It’s a long, spirally sounding track that continues along the same musical path the band ventured down during their most recent album, The King of Limbs. The video is taken from an upcoming episode of Nigel Godrich’s performance series “From the Basement”. It also features an appearance from Portishead/Robert Plant drummer Clive Deamer.

Along with “Supercollider’’ and “The Butcher’’, “Staircase’’ is another song that either didn’t make the final cut for inclusion on The King of Limbs or was completed after the release of that album. (Radiohead released “Supercollider’’ and “The Butcher’’ on Record Store Day this year. I downloaded both songs in MP3 format – legally of course – and am still a little puzzled as to why they weren’t included on The King of Limbs. “Supercollider’’ is a particularly dazzling and dreamy listen).

Anyways, hopefully these songs will eventually find themselves included on some special edition version of the album to be released at a later date. The King of Limbs ’ 8 songs were never quite enough…
